After lots of teaser images, Volvo has finally taken wraps off the new S90 at a press event at Volvo’s HQ in Gothenburg, Sweden. The S90 is a premium sedan designed to replace the S80 and slot at the top of the Volvo’s lineup. The S90 follows the same design language on both interiors and exteriors as the new XC90 which was launched earlier this year. The car features Volvo’s new trademark The Thor’s Hammer DRLs.
The car also features a tablet like touch screen infotainment system like in the new XC90.
Volvo has built the S90 on the same modular Scalable Platform Architecture as the new XC90. Coming to the engine bit, there will be three options available, including a supercharged T6 model, a turbocharged T5 option and a T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid version. The new S90 will take on Audi’s A6, BMW 5 Series and Merc E Class. The car will be premiered at the 2016 Detroit Motor Show (North American International Auto Show, 2016).
