India’s biggest car maker Maruti Suzuki launched its second premium offering Baleno at a starting price of 4.99 lakh ex-showroom Delhi.
The petrol trims of the car are priced between Rs 4.99 lakh and Rs 7.01 lakh while the diesel trims are priced between Rs 6.16 lakh to Rs 8.11 lakh. The petrol CVT variant is priced at Rs 6.76 lakh (all prices are ex-showroom Delhi).
The much awaited car will take on Hyundai’s Elite i20, Honda’s New Jazz and VW’s Polo. The best thing of this new Baleno is the essential safety kit like dual front airbags and ABS+EBD are standard across all trims. The Baleno is powered by 1.2L K-Series petrol engine mated to a 5-speed manual transmission or a CVT. The petrol engine develops 84.3 PS of power and 115 Nm of torque, and returns a claimed 21.4 km/l of fuel efficiency. The popular 1.3-litre DDiS diesel engine develops 75 PS and 190 Nm of torque and claims 27.39 km/l. The diesel variant is available only with a 5-speed manual transmission.
The new Baleno features Apple CarPlay, which is first in the segment.
Maruti’s NEXA network will retail this car.
