The Nissan Kicks with its bold, polarizing design, made its global debut in the Brazilian market two years ago. It is now sold globally, except European markets where another boldly-designed model ‘Juke’ is still on sale.
The Juke might be a bit too much for the Indian market but the Kicks seems to be one which has the potential to replicate the Duster magic for Renault-Nissan alliance in India. Which is why the company has decided to introduce the crossover SUV in the country. The date is not confirmed yet, but Nissan says that the Kicks “is set to take India by storm”.
“Nissan Kicks has been crafted and tailored to suit the needs of the Indian consumers,” the company said in a statement. Meaning the India-spec model could be built on the same platform as the Duster, just like the India-spec Captur.
The Kicks sold in other markets packs a good amount of equipment. Which includes, automatic headlamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, 7.0-inch Drive-Assist display, 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, auto AC, heated front seats, 6 speakers, optional Bose audio with 8 speakers, 360° camera, 6 airbags, Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) with Traction Control System, Automatic Emergency Braking, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert and more.
In markets such as Middle East, Brazil and US, the 2018 Kicks is offered with a 1.6-litre petrol engine with different state of tunes. For the US market, the engine produces 125 hp and 156 Nm of torque. A CVT sends power to the front wheels.
When it comes to India, it’ll most likely share the engines with the Duster.
