Hyundai India has launched the Elite i20 CVT (automatic), with prices starting at Rs 7.04 lakh ex-showroom, Delhi. The CVT is offered with the 1.2-litre petrol engine.
Speaking of which, the petrol engine’s output figures remain unchanged with the CVT. The engine still delivers 83 hp @ 6000 rpm and 115 Nm of torque @ 4000 rpm. There is also a manual mode with simulated shifts but no paddle shifters.
Among the five trims of Elite i20 – Era, Magna Executive, Sportz, Asta and Asta (O), the CVT is offered only in the Magna Executive and Asta trims.
The Asta trim on the exterior gets standard halogen headlamps, DRLs, ORVM integrated turn signals and 15-inch metal finish or 16-inch diamond cut alloy wheels.
Interiors get 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, MirrorLink, Arkamys Sound, Voice Recognition, steering mounted controls, Auto AC, electrically adjustable & auto folding ORVMs, Tilt & Telescopic Steering and rear AC vents.
Safety kit includes dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, front fog lamps, reverse parking sensors, reversing camera, speed sensing auto door lock, impact sensing auto door unlock, rear defogger with timer and lane change indicator.
Hyundai said that in the Premium Compact Customer Survey they conducted, 41% of respondents prefer automatic due to ease and hassle free driving in city and highways. The sales of AT and CVT options in the premium compact segment has grown from 4% in 2015 to 14% in 2018.
