Toyota Kirloskar Motor needs some more segments in their portfolio, and as expected, the company has started testing the Yaris Ativ sedan (also sold as Vios) in the country.
The Yaris Ativ or Vios is a popular sedan in the ASEAN markets, and looking at the spy photo that has been taken somewhere around TKM plant in Bengaluru, it appears that the Indian market will get the Thai-spec model. Even the alloy wheels are the same as the ones sold in Thailand.
The Yaris Ativ in Thailand gets 4.2-inch MID, 7-inch touchscreen, voice recognition, 6 speakers, auto AC, 7 airbags, ABS with EBD and Brake Assist, VSC, Traction Control, reversing camera and more. However, the features of the India-spec model may differ.
Powering the Yaris Ativ is a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder petrol, producing 86 PS @ 6,000 rpm and 108 Nm of torque 4,000 rpm. Transmission is a CVT. The India-spec model however, might share the 1.5-litre petrol and 1.4-litre diesel units from the Etios.
Once launched, the Yaris Ativ or Vios will go against the likes of Hyundai Verna, Honda City, VW Vento, Skoda Rapid, and Maruti Ciaz as well.
