The 6th generation Volkswagen Polo, which was globally unveiled in June this year, goes on sale in the Brazilian market with prices starting at BRL 49,990.
Features include the optional 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, 8-inch touchscreen with Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and Mirrorlink capability, multifunction steering wheel, reversing camera, automatic climate control, Kessy & Go, Park Pilot (parking sensors), front & side airbags (4), fatigue detection, ESC, Traction Control, and Hill Hold Control.
The top-spec Highline trim gets 16-inch alloy wheels. The TSI versions get disc brakes at all four corners.
Powertrains
The engine options start with a 1.0L 3-cylinder MPI, producing 84 hp and 102 Nm (75 lb-ft) of torque with ethanol, and 75 hp and 94 Nm (69 lb-ft) with gasoline, paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. There’s also a 1.6L motor, producing 117 hp and 162 Nm (119 lb-ft) of torque with ethanol, and 110 hp and 155 Nm (114 lb-ft) with gasoline, paired with a 5-speed manual. Rounding off the engine options is a 1.0L 3-cylinder TSI, producing 128 hp and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) of torque with ethanol, and 116 hp and 200 Nm (148 lb-ft) with gasoline, paired with a 6-speed automatic.
The lesser variants get less-jazzy interiors with analogue dials and an audio/FM player in place of a touchscreen.
