Not too long after the VW Vento gets updated with LED headlights and reversing camera, its cousin, the Skoda Rapid too gets some updates. The Rapid facelift was launched in India last year, but it missed some of the features which customers were expecting from a car of this class.
Skoda has listened to them and added a reversing camera with the view being displayed on the touchscreen system. Other addition is a 16-inch “Clubber” alloy wheels. Originally, the car was launched with 15-inch wheels.
Rest of the equipment continue to be unchanged. These include automatic climate control, 6.5 inch touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, rain sensing wipers, cruise control, height and length adjustable steering wheel, electrically foldable mirrors, all one-touch power windows, amber glow footwell illumination and leatherette lined arm rest. On the safety front, it gets dual front airbags and ABS as standard. The automatic variants get Hill Hold Control and ESC as well.
Engine options are 1.5 TDI diesel, which makes 110 PS and 250 Nm of torque. This can be had either with 5 Speed manual or 7 Speed DSG. The petrol is a 1.6 litre naturally aspirated MPI, producing 105 PS and 153 Nm of torque. The petrol variant can be had either with 5 Speed manual or 6 Speed auto.
The Style trim on which the aforementioned updates have been made, now costs Rs 35,000 more, reportedly.
