Bajaj Auto has started production of its new 400 cc bike at an all women assembly line in its plant at Chakan, Pune. The bike is expected to be launched in mid December.
This new bike from Bajaj is the production model of the CS400 concept that was showcased at 2014 Auto Expo. Although the company hasn’t finalised the name yet, there has been speculations of possible names like VS400, Kratos or Dominar.
Bajaj is likely to source the 373 cc engine from KTM Duke 390 with necessary tuning/detuning, and expect a power output of around 40 hp. The engine will come mated to a 6 speed gearbox. Bajaj’s patented triple-spark technology is expected as well.
The bike will feature a digital instrument cluster, as is the norm these days. Talking about the suspension, there’ll be a conventional telescopic at front, while the rear will have a mono setup. Front and rear will have discs as expected. A single channel ABS is expected as standard, and dual channel will most likely be an option.
