BMW Motorrad has launched the 2023 S 1000 RR in India, with prices starting at INR 20.25 lakh, ex-showroom, Pan India. The motorcycle is available in three variants:

The new design boasts composite plastic winglets at the front that are claimed to generate up to 17.1 kg (38 lbs) downforce at 300 km/h (186 mph). This downforce counteracts the motorcycle’s tendency to do a wheelie, increasing cornering stability and faster lap times. The revised front fascia also includes a new windscreen for supposed improved aerodynamics around the head. The tail section has also received some tweaks in order to make it appear lighter and sportier. Buyers can opt for a carbon tail-hump cover that comes with an action camera mount.
Other key highlights include M GPS Laptrigger; M Lightweight lithium-ion battery that is claimed to save 2 kg (4.4 lbs); M Brakes (dual 320 mm at the front and single 220 at the rear); ABS Pro with new Brake Slide Assist, and a few more. The new feature of Dynamic Traction Control is the Slide Control function. Thanks to the new steering angle sensor, it allows the rider to select two preset drift angles for the traction control system when accelerating out of bends. The suspension strut is now height-adjustable; thanks to the standard M Chassis Kit, the swinging arm pivot point can be adjusted.
The motorcycle continues to be powered by a 999 cc in-line 4-cylinder engine that pumps out 154 kW or 210 metric hp at 13,750 rpm and 113 Nm (83 lb-ft) of torque at 11,000 rpm. Compared with the outgoing model, there’s 3 metric hp more. The engine can rev up to 14,600 rpm. The new airbox, as on the M RR, features variable intake funnels that optimize charge change and power generation, especially at high engine speeds.
