The Alfa Romeo Giulia and Stelvio have received their much-awaited updates for 2023 and are scheduled to go on sale in Q1 2023. The updates include styling revisions and onboard tech upgrades.
As you can probably tell, the styling revisions are subtle and comes courtesy of new headlight housings featuring triple-J-shaped (or, L-shaped, if you swing that way) running light signatures—which should remind you of those on the Tonale. The headlights are adaptive Matrix LEDs, although I’m guessing only the range-topping trim gets these as standard (do check with your local dealer). The rest of the things on both cars look the same, but the lower grilles have slightly different detailing; they feature a smaller honeycomb grille on the outer edges.
Inside, you get a 12.3-inch digital driver display—which is also, of course, borrowed from the Tonale. The display can be configured into three layouts: Evolved, Relax and Heritage. The Evolved mode uses the central area of the screen while keeping its two lateral quadrants in place. The Relax, as the name suggests, shows you the bare essentials and is free of detailed vehicle information and the two quadrants. The Heritage mode is apparently inspired by the brand’s iconic Sixties’ and Seventies’ models, with details such as inverted numbers at the end of the speedometer.
Non-Fungible-Token (NFT) technology is also available on the new Giulia and Stelvio. The NFT generates a certificate where data on the vehicle’s life gets recorded. This certificate can be used to ensure proper vehicle maintenance and support its residual value. The certificate offers a further source of credibility for the new buyer.
To celebrate the launch of the updated models, Alfa is introducing the Competizione special series. It’ll be based on the Veloce trim. The exterior is painted in an exclusive Moon Light grey matt color, complemented with red brake calipers hiding behind the 21-inch alloy wheels. On the inside, you get Harman Kardon audio system, and leather-upholstered dashboard and seats with red contrast stitching. Also, the Alfa Active Suspension and the aforementioned NFT technology come standard.
As for the trims, this time around, there’ll be only two options, apparently: Sprint and Veloce. This strategy is apparently to make the customer’s vehicle configuration as simple as possible. The Giulia range will be available with the rear-wheel-drive 280 metric hp petrol engine, while the Stelvio will come with the choice of all-wheel-drive 280 metric hp petrol or 210 metric hp diesel engines.
You can expect the same visual and tech upgrades on the Quadrifoglio models.
