Küsnacht-based urban mobility solutions company Micro Mobility Systems has been selling a microcar called Microlino since 2018, featuring a design inspired by the famous microcar of the ’50s, the Isetta. Now though, it’s time for the Microlino 2.0, featuring improved design, better features and a more powerful electric drivetrain. Prices in Switzerland start at CHF 14,990 (US$ 15,069 or INR 12.48 lakh), which is nothing “micro”, but apparently, the Microlino 2.0 is a superior product that commands such a price. Just to compare, here in India, you get a 5-seater compact electric crossover very close to that price.

As you can see from the above list, the Microlino 2.0 comes in multiple flavors, but if you want the car now, the Pioneer Series—limited to 999 units—is your only option. The remaining three variants will be delivered in Q1 2023 (Dolce and Competizione) or Q3 2023 (Urban).
The Microlino 2.0 sports a sophisticated design with modern lightbars at the front and rear (the base model doesn’t get lightbars), while retaining that iconic Isetta-inspired silhouette. Some of the key highlights of the Pioneer Series (in the photos above) include two exclusive paint themes; Dinamica microfiber suede and vegan Marino leather for the seat, dashboard and side panels; standard pioneer option package (includes a Bluetooth speaker, smartphone holder and side pockets), and of course, a limited edition plaque. The front door on all variants comes with a soft-close mechanism. Except for the base Urban trim, the rest all get a fabric manual sunroof.
On the inside, things look just as cool. You got two displays; one for the driver and the other—on that black bar—is a touchscreen! You got seating for two, but I guess it’s best for people with small-medium body frames. Boot space is claimed to be 230 litres!

Moving on to the juicy bits of the story, the rear electric motor develops 12.5 kW (17 metric hp) of power output and 89 Nm (66 lb-ft) of torque, good for a 0-50 km/h (31 mph) sprint time of 5 seconds and a top speed of 90 km/h (56 mph). As for the battery pack, you got three options depending on the variant you choose. A 6 kWh pack will get you a 95 km (59 mi) range, a 10.5 kWh pack will get you a 175 km (109 mi) range, and finally, a 14 kWh pack will get you an impressive 230 km (143 mi) range. And of course, the Microlino 2.0 also boasts a ‘Sports’ mode.
