That’s right! The Ioniq 6 we’re seeing here is a near-production version of the Prophecy concept we saw in March 2020. And as mentioned in the title above, this is apparently just a “preview”, because Hyundai will share more details on the vehicle in July. In the meantime, let’s talk a li’l bit about the Ioniq sub-brand‘s next big blockbuster.
Speaking of which, the design continues to give off strong Porsche 930 and 964 vibes, especially from the rear-three-quarter angles, while the front fascia gives off a mixed Model 3 and Sony Vision-S flavor. But either way, the Ioniq 6 looks stunning with its clean and simple lines, which have also resulted in a low drag coefficient of just 0.21 Cd, unsurprisingly. Those digital side mirrors you see are optional extras.
The Ioniq 6 also integrates over 700 Parametric Pixels in various areas, such as front running lights, taillights, bumper garnishes, etc. Sustainable materials on the outside include bamboo charcoal pigment for the body paint and a paint pigment extracted from end-of-life tires for the body cladding.
While the exterior styling has a lot of retro flair, it’s quite the opposite on the inside, where you’ll find a lot of digital displays. There are, of course, two extra displays for the aforementioned digital side mirrors in addition to a 12-inch driver display and a 12-inch infotainment display. A couple more key highlights include 4-dot Interactive Pixel Lights on the steering wheel, which are apparently for communication between the driver and vehicle, and the usage of sustainable materials such as recycled PET fabric for seats, bio TPO skin for the dashboard, bio PET fabric for the headliner, recycled fishing net for carpeting, and bio paint derived from vegetable oils for the doors.
As mentioned, Hyundai is yet to share technical details of the Ioniq 6, but you can expect some decent figures to justify the stunning design. Either way, let me know what you guys think in the comments down below.
