Bodyshell integrity: unstable; footwell area: unstable
The Tata Tigor EV facelift has been put through Global NCAP crash tests where the sub-4 metre sedan has scored 4 stars in both adult and child occupant protection categories. But strangely, both the bodyshell integrity and the footwell area have been rated as unstable, which makes you wonder how it got 4 stars and yet an unstable rating.
But anyway, the Tigor EV comes with two front airbags, front seat belt pretensioners, 4-channel ABS, and seat belt reminder as standard.
Adult occupant protection
In the adult occupant protection category, the report said that the protection offered to the driver’s head was good and the passenger’s head was adequate. Both front passengers’ necks showed good protection. The driver’s chest showed adequate protection and the passenger’s chest showed good protection. Driver and passenger knees showed marginal protection as they could impact with dangerous structures behind the dashboard supported by the tranfascia tube. Driver and passenger tibias showed adequate and good protection, respectively. The report added that the bodyshell was not capable of withstanding further loadings.
Child occupant protection
As for the child occupant category, the report said that the child seat for a 3-year-old and a 1.5-year-old was installed RWF with the adult seatbelt which was able to prevent excessive forward movement during the impact. Chest and head protection were good. CRS marking was permanent. The report mentioned that the vehicle doesn’t offer Isofix anchorages, which probably took off one star. Full report here.
