Bugatti has decided to go ahead with the production of Bolide—which was revealed as a concept in fall 2020. President Stephan Winkelmann said that “a significant number of enthusiasts and collectors asked us to develop the experimental Bolide as a production vehicle,” and as a result, 40 units will be built with each carrying a price tag of €4 million net.
The Bugatti Bolide can be considered a track-only version of the Chiron and numerous other Chiron-based variants that have come up so far. Bugatti said that its designers and engineers are currently honing the aerodynamics and handling, and are developing the track hypercar in line with FIA safety standards. Safety features would include HANS system compatibility, an automatic fire extinguishing system, pressure refueling with a fuel bladder, and a six-point harness.
With 110-octane racing fuel, the Bolide was estimated to offer 1,850 metric hp. However, for the production version, Bugatti has opted for a 98 RON fuel which has a wider availability. And as a result, the engine’s output figures are gonna be 1,600 metric hp and a torque of 1,600 Nm (1,180 lb-ft) available at 2,250 rpm. With a curb weight of 1,450 kg (3,197 lbs), the Bolide has a power-to-weight ratio of 1.08 metric hp/kg or a weight-to-power ratio of 0.9 kg per metric hp.
“The customers’ safety is always our top priority. We, therefore, decided to offer exclusive track days for this extreme vehicle in order to guarantee a safe environment at all times and gradually introduce the customers to the Bolide’s breathtaking performance,” added Winkelmann.
Deliveries are expected in 2024.
