Mahindra has announced that the new Thar #1 has been sold for INR 1,11,00,000 (US$ 150,530) at a recently held charity auction. Mahindra will match the amount raised and the total proceeds of INR 2,22,00,000 (US$ 301,060) will be donated to either Naandi Foundation, Swades Foundation, or PM CARES fund, as chosen by the winning bidder.

The winning bidder is Aakash Minda, who according to rumours, is none other than the CEO of automotive components supplier Spark Minda.
The Thar #1 will have a customised badge with the bidder’s initials, serial number ‘1’ on the decorative VIN plate on the dashboard and on the leatherette seats.
